High School Devo

High school MTB XC racing is back in 2021!

As in years past, Roaring Fork Cycling will administer the Aspen and Basalt High School teams for the 2021 season.

High school MTB racing is a fun and challenging Fall sport that incorporates group MTB rides, training, traveling, and racing XC as a team. In 2019, Aspen and Basalt teams were 1,2 in the Division for small teams and 2 of our riders, Emma Borchers and Megan Heath, were 2nd in the State Championships.

Being on the High School team is a great way to learn about XC racing. You will have the opportunity to represent your school in a fun team environment while participating in a sport you love. The venues are close – especially our home course in Snowmass! The races are well run and on excellent courses. The level of competition is solid with riders from all over the state.

Rides will begin on August 4th and will take place Wednesdays and Fridays after school. Team rides will last 2+ hours and will alternate between Aspen and Basalt high schools.

Team rides will begin Wednesday 8/4 and will be on Wednesdays and Fridays through the season, which concludes with the State Championships race in Durango, 10/23,24.

Practice Schedule:

Start Date-Wednesday August 4th-October 23rd

Practices will be held Wednesdays and Fridays for the entire season.

Practices will meet in a central location. Locations, rides, routes, are to be determined and will be communicated weekly. Coaches may vary from practice to practice. In the event of inclement weather, rides will be canceled. In those circumstances, alternative ride dates will be scheduled in summer to ensure the practices/session are met.  Alternative activities may be adopted including mechanic skills, trail building, and team building.
